Community Outreach

At MMCH, we understand that serving our community means actually getting out into the community, beyond the walls of our hospital, to meet the needs of area families. School Programs

  • CATCH (Coordinated Approach to Child Health): Through grant money, MMCH addresses the issue of childhood obesity by offering the CATCH program to local schools. CATCH brings schools, families and communities together to create a healthier school environment.
  • Handwashing: This interactive program promotes the importance of handwashing.
  • Farm Fit: Offered to second-grade students, this program is held in the spring and teaches kids the benefits of gardening, healthy eating and physical activity.
  • Bike Helmet Presentations: This program teaches young kids the rules of the road, including the importance of wearing a helmet to prevent head injury.

Outreach Programs

  • MMCH Cares Mammogram Program: MMCH offers free screening mammograms to uninsured or underinsured women who live within the hospital’s service area. Certain age, financial and other program criteria must be met in order to qualify. Diagnostic mammogram assistance is also available to those who qualify.
  • Walking Program: Local school hallways are available for walking during the cold weather months. No fees apply. Registration is required.
  • Speaker Services: Health-related presentations for professional or civic groups are available. Click here for a list of suggested topics.
  • Safe Sitter: For kids age 11-13, this course features such topics as baby care, healthy snacks and first aid. Lunch is included. Cost to attend is $15. Registration required.

Safety

  • Bike Helmets/Booster Seats: Bike helmets may be purchased year round for $5 and booster seats are sold for $10.

 

  • Car Seat Permanent Fitting Station: Make an appointment to have one of our certified car seat technicians make sure your child’s seat is installed correctly. If necessary, replacement seats are available, free of charge, to those who financially qualify. Please call (812) 933-5407 to make an appointment.

Corporate Wellness: MMCH offers a variety of services to local organizations and their employees at discounted prices. Our corporate screening program includes on-site screening, educational materials and a referral plan. Services include mammograms, body composition analysis, cardiac risk, hemoccult-ICT, osteoporosis, prostate specific antigen, blood pressure and blood sugar. Other services include Health Risk Assessments, wellness profiles, speaker services, Tuberculin skin tests and immunizations.
